Games for Change celebrated the 19th year of their festival this year and brought together a wonderful program of content for their event.

Games for Change is the Game Industry’s HUB for all things impactful gaming. The festival they host in NTC each summer brings together those who share a passion for the power of games and want to harness it.

This year’s speaker lineup included Nolan Bushnell, the grandfather of home consoles, medical staff, educational professionals, ESA, and everyone in between. One of my favorite parts of the festival is listening to the children who have submitted their games come on stage and present their games to the audience. I am always impressed by the confidence these young people show, and I can’t wait to see where this generation goes with their experiences growing up with games.

As well as the student submissions, there are also the traditional Festival Game Awards for published titles. this year there were nine categories for the game submissions:

  • Most innovative
  • Best XR for Change
  • Best Civics Game
  • Best Gameplay
  • Best Learning Game
  • Most Significant Impact
  • Best Health Game
  • Best Narrative Game
  • Best Student Game
  • G4C People’s Choice Award
