It’s an experience you won’t soon forget. You don’t need to work the whole time\, join us for what you can. \nRSVP below if you can join us. \nTHANKSGIVING DAY\n\nPlan to arrive 1/2 hour early for the shift you have been assigned so you’ll have time to park and go through orientation.\nAll volunteers will be working outdoors. It’s cool in the morning and late afternoon and hot at mid-day. Please dress accordingly.\nYou may be working on asphalt or an open field so wear comfortable footwear.\nPLEASE NOTE: All children under 18 MUST be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.\nWhat time is dinner served?\nWe’ll serve dinner between 11am-3pm. Then we’ll pack up and clean up until 6pm.\nWho is the dinner for?\nWe welcome everyone: especially veterans\, students\, low-income families\, seniors\, anyone who is homeless\, and anyone who is alone on Thanksgiving. SUMMARY:LA Works: Pop Up Day of Service August 2017
DESCRIPTION:For this event\, L.A. Works will create “stations” for teams of volunteers to rotate through with nonprofit leaders facilitating activities and interactive learning opportunities at each location. Stations may include activities like sorting food or clothing donations; assembling hygiene kits; making blankets; and education and action for advocacy/voting/legislation. The event will include advocacy workshops designed to raise awareness and activate year-round collective civic engagement towards solving the city’s chronic homeless crisis. \nRSVP below if you can join us.\n \n  \nWe will be collaborating with nonprofit organizations dedicated to eliminating homelessness among youth and families through housing and supportive services in high need regions ranging from Hollywood\, Downtown LA\, South LA and West LA. \nMinors: Any volunteer under the age of 18 will need to bring and have signed by a parent/guardian an L.A. Works Volunteer Agreement & Release for Minors. Volunteers under the age of 14 must have a parent/guardian with them. \nLunch and entertainment: Lunch is generously provided by the Jonathan Club. Coffee and light pastries will also be available in the morning during the kick-off. \nDress Code: Casual attire and sneakers (sturdy closed-toe shoes). Please wear clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty.
