For this event, L.A. Works will create “stations” for teams of volunteers to rotate through with nonprofit leaders facilitating activities and interactive learning opportunities at each location. Stations may include activities like sorting food or clothing donations; assembling hygiene kits; making blankets; and education and action for advocacy/voting/legislation. The event will include advocacy workshops designed to raise awareness and activate year-round collective civic engagement towards solving the city’s chronic homeless crisis.
We will be collaborating with nonprofit organizations dedicated to eliminating homelessness among youth and families through housing and supportive services in high need regions ranging from Hollywood, Downtown LA, South LA and West LA.
Minors: Any volunteer under the age of 18 will need to bring and have signed by a parent/guardian an L.A. Works Volunteer Agreement & Release for Minors. Volunteers under the age of 14 must have a parent/guardian with them.
Lunch and entertainment: Lunch is generously provided by the Jonathan Club. Coffee and light pastries will also be available in the morning during the kick-off.
Dress Code: Casual attire and sneakers (sturdy closed-toe shoes). Please wear clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty. Wear sunscreen, a hat and bring your own eco-friendly water bottle if you have one.
